Yes — DTF printing handles small text and fine lines well when the artwork is sharp and sized for the print area. Ultra-fine hairlines, tiny gaps, and very small lettering can lose clarity during printing, so those details may need slight thickening before production. LuxPort Print Co creates custom DTF shirts, DTF transfers, and crew packs for San Antonio customers and orders shipped nationwide.
How small can text be?
There is no single size that works for every font or design. Bold, clean lettering usually stays easier to read than a thin script or a highly detailed decorative font. Text should be large enough to read from a normal distance and have enough space between letters, lines, and nearby artwork.
Small text also performs better when the original artwork is clean. Blurry screenshots, compressed images, and designs that were enlarged too far can make edges look soft. If the design includes names, numbers, a short slogan, or a small logo detail, send the sharpest version available so the print can be reviewed at its intended size.

What about fine lines?
DTF can reproduce fine outlines, interior details, and narrow strokes, but extremely thin “hairline” elements are more sensitive than thicker shapes. A line that looks visible on a large monitor may be difficult to reproduce once reduced for a shirt. Slightly thickening those strokes can help preserve the intended appearance without changing the overall design.
Contrast matters, too. Fine details are easier to see when they stand apart from the shirt color and surrounding artwork. Crowded details, tight spacing, and very small enclosed areas may need a small adjustment so the design remains readable after pressing.
Will LuxPort check my artwork?
Yes. LuxPort provides a free digital proof so you can review the layout, sizing, placement, and fine details before the order moves into printing. This is especially helpful for small text, thin outlines, shirt names, numbers, and logos with detailed edges. The goal is simple: review the proof, approve it, and print the version you actually want.
How do I order?
Order online and upload your artwork with the product or quote request. Include the shirt quantity, print location, and any sizing notes you already know. LuxPort can help determine whether a detail should remain as submitted or be adjusted slightly for clearer printing.
LuxPort is not a walk-in shop. Completed orders can be shipped nationwide, delivered locally in the San Antonio area, or handed off by appointment. If your project is planned around the current production schedule, production resumes October 13, 2026; the ready-by date should be confirmed for the specific order.
Small text on shirts
DTF is a practical choice when you need crisp small text and fine-line artwork without committing to a large uniform run. LuxPort supports individual DTF shirts, transfers, and crew packs. Upload the sharpest artwork you have, review the free digital proof, and approve the final size before printing.
