A properly pressed DTF print is water resistant, not a waterproof coating. Once the ink and adhesive cure into the fabric, the print handles washing, rain, sweat, and a pool splash without washing out. It does not make the shirt itself waterproof, and harsh chemicals, high heat, and rough drying wear it down over time.
Watercolor, pencil, and sketch-style art can be printed on shirts when the original file is clear and the main details have enough contrast at actual print size.
Decide first whether you want the whole photo or just a cut-out. For a cut-out, separate the subject, zoom in on hair, hands, and gaps, save a transparent PNG at full size, and check the proof on your actual shirt color.
