For DTF printing, use a high-resolution PNG at about 300 DPI at the final print size. PDF or vector artwork can also work well, especially for logos and clean shapes. Transparent backgrounds are best when you want the shirt color to show around the design, while low-resolution JPEGs are more likely to print soft or pixelated.

Best file formats
A PNG is usually the easiest format for DTF artwork because it can preserve transparency. This is especially useful for logos, lettering, mascots, and designs that should not print with a rectangular background.
PDF, SVG, AI, and EPS files may also be helpful for logos or vector artwork, provided the fonts, shapes, and linked elements are preserved correctly. If you send a PDF, make sure it contains the finished artwork rather than a low-resolution image placed inside a PDF.
JPEG files can work for some artwork, but they are not ideal when saved at a small size or with heavy compression. A screenshot, social-media download, or image copied from a website may not contain enough detail for a sharp shirt print.

Recommended resolution
Aim for approximately 300 DPI at the final print size. Resolution matters because the file must contain enough pixels for the size you want printed. For example, artwork intended to print at 12 inches wide should ideally be about 3,600 pixels wide at 300 DPI.
Do not enlarge a tiny image and expect it to become sharp. Upscaling can make edges look jagged and small text difficult to read. If your artwork is already blurry at its original size, recreating it as vector artwork or obtaining a larger source file is usually better.
Size the artwork first
Set the design to the approximate size you want on the shirt, transfer, or gang sheet before exporting. A front logo, full-front design, left-chest mark, sleeve graphic, and back print may all need different dimensions.
For crew packs, sizing artwork consistently helps keep the logo placement uniform across the order. If you are ordering transfers for your own pressing, include the intended print dimensions so the file can be prepared correctly.
Use transparency carefully
Transparent backgrounds are recommended for most logos and cutout designs. Check the file against a contrasting background before uploading so you can see whether unwanted white boxes, halos, or hidden elements are present.
White areas that are part of the design should remain in the artwork. Transparency should remove only the background you do not want printed.
Proof before printing
When you order online from LuxPort, upload the artwork with your request and review the digital proof before production. The proof is the opportunity to confirm the design, approximate size, placement, and spelling before the artwork is pressed onto shirts or prepared as transfers.
LuxPort specializes in custom DTF shirts, transfers, gang sheets, and crew packs for San Antonio businesses, contractors, teams, and events. Orders are placed online rather than through a walk-in counter. Finished orders can be shipped nationwide, delivered locally when arranged, or handed off by appointment.
Current scheduling note
Production resumes October 13, 2026. If you are planning a crew pack, shirt order, or transfer project, include your target ready-by date when you submit the request so the schedule can be reviewed before production begins.
