Group Shirts Without Collecting Everyone's Money: Can Each Person Order Their Own?

October 17, 2026LuxPort Print Co

Yes. Each person in your group can order and pay for their own shirt from the same design. First, agree on one artwork file, one shirt color, one print option, and a firm order-by date so the orders stay consistent. LuxPort has no minimum order, so one shirt is a normal order, and no design skills are needed.

Why is collecting everyone's money the hardest part of group shirts?

The hardest part of a group shirt order is often managing the money, not choosing the design. When one organizer pays for everybody, that person can end up chasing transfers, sending Venmo reminders, and covering shirts for people who haven't paid yet.

Then the details change. Someone drops out, another person changes their size, and a third wants to add a friend. The leader becomes the payment collector, size coordinator, and person everyone asks for updates. That can turn a fun family trip, office outing, or reunion into a second job.

Separate orders take the payment problem off the leader's plate. Each participant selects their size, enters their shipping address, and pays at checkout. The trade-off is that individual orders have their own shipping and tax charges and cost more per shirt than a qualifying bulk pack.

How can one design work for many individual orders?

Everyone can order separately by using the same LuxPort product page, design file, shirt color, and print option. There is no special group checkout or shared cart: each person places a normal individual order with matching instructions.

  1. Finalize one design file. The group leader selects the artwork everyone will use and gives it an easy-to-recognize filename. Agree on the wording, event name, spelling, and front or back placement before sharing it. No design skills are required to order, and you can contact LuxPort for help preparing the details.
  2. Pick one shirt color and one print option. Choose White, Black, Gray, Navy, or Red and decide whether the group wants Front only or Front + back. Keep these choices the same for every participant, even if individual sizes differ.
  3. Send one clear message to the group. Share the Custom T-Shirts — Upload or Design Your Own page, the exact artwork file, the agreed color, the print option, and the order-by date. Tell everyone which group or event name to include on their order.
  4. Let each person place their own order. Each participant opens that page, chooses their size and the agreed options, uploads the identical design, and pays separately. Artwork can be PNG, JPG, or PDF, up to 25MB per file. If the storefront does not show a file-upload control, contact us with your artwork before ordering.
  5. Identify the order as part of the group. Each buyer includes the group or event name wherever the order allows instructions. If there is no suitable field, the buyer can reply to their order confirmation email with the group name.

Each separate order gets its own proof, and each buyer approves their proof before we print. We review design details with each buyer so names, colors, placement, and wording are correct before production begins. Individual orders ship to the addresses their buyers enter; shipping and tax are shown separately at checkout for each order.

Use artwork you created or have permission to reproduce. Permission matters if a design includes a protected character, band image, team mark, company logo, or cruise-company artwork.

How do we keep shirt colors, sizes, and print placement consistent?

Consistency starts with written choices everyone can copy. The leader should send an order card with the exact color, artwork filename, print option, and placement rather than relying on people to remember a conversation.

Example order card: Group: Hill Country Family Trip | Shirt: Navy | File: hill-country-trip-final.png | Print: Front only | Placement: Front | Order by: our agreed group date.

Tell everyone to check the product's size chart or size guidance before purchasing. For more help, share How Do Custom T-Shirt Sizes Run? and How Many of Each Size Should I Order?. These guides are useful even when each person selects their own size.

Front + back is $5 more per shirt than Front only. If half the group chooses one option and half chooses the other, the shirts won't look identical in group photos. Keep the artwork and placement consistent, and check each proof before approving it.

Can cruise and trip groups use the same separate-payment method?

Yes. Cruise groups, family trips, and traveling friends can coordinate one design and let each person pay for their own shirt. For cruises, use the Custom Cruise Shirts product page so everyone starts with the same options.

Cruise shirts are $27.99 for front printing or $32.99 for Front + back. Available colors are White, Black, Gray, Navy, and Red, in adult sizes S–3XL. If one buyer orders for several relatives, add each size and color as its own line item so the group count stays accurate.

Share one design file, choose one print option, and use the same event name in order notes or a confirmation reply. Our guide to planning custom cruise group shirts can help the leader settle the artwork and roster. Keep artwork original or properly licensed rather than assuming a travel company's logos are available to print.

How should we choose an order-by date for the group?

Set one firm order-by date comfortably ahead of your event and share it in every group message. This is the deadline you give participants to place separate orders, not a promise that all parcels will arrive together.

Production begins after each person has reviewed and approved their proof, not simply at checkout. Separate buyers may approve on different dates, and shipping is separate from production. Leave room for both steps and remind everyone to watch for their proof.

For a reunion, school event, or trip, repeat the order-by date in the group chat and on the order card. If someone joins later, treat theirs as a separate order rather than assuming it will follow the same path as earlier orders.

When is one bulk order still cheaper than separate orders?

A single bulk order generally offers the lower per-shirt price when one person can collect the money and submit the group together. Separate orders offer the leader less hassle because nobody has to front the money or chase payments.

For comparison, the 12 Custom Work Shirts — Business Starter Pack is $155.88 for 12 shirts, or about $12.99 each. A single custom shirt is $24.99 for Front only, or $29.99 for Front + back. The 12-shirt pack uses the same custom print on every shirt, includes front and back printing, and comes with a proof approved before printing.

For packs of 24 shirts and larger, the crew-pack offer includes 1 free spare shirt per 24 shirts. The leader still needs to coordinate the combined order. See the business crew shirt packages to compare the bulk approach; for larger or mixed orders, contact us for group pricing and design help.

Rule of thumb: Individual orders mean the least payment hassle for the group leader. One bulk order means the lowest per-shirt price when the pack fits your needs.

Can San Antonio groups order matching shirts from different cities?

Yes. LuxPort prints in-house in San Antonio, in the Potranco Road area, and ships nationwide. Members across San Antonio, elsewhere in Texas, or across the country can use the same design and instructions without meeting to exchange money or distribute shirts.

A school alumni group might have members in San Antonio, Houston, and another state. Each person can select their shipping destination while the organizer keeps the design and options consistent. For rosters and more complicated artwork, see our school and team shirt order guide.

Frequently asked questions about separate group shirt orders

Here are the short answers to common questions. The main choice is whether simplicity for each buyer or the bulk per-shirt price matters more.

Can each person pay separately?

Yes. Each person places their own order on the upload-your-picture custom shirt page and pays at checkout. There isn't a single shared group cart.

Will everyone's shirts match?

They can match when everyone uses the same design file, shirt color, print option, and placement. Each buyer should review their own proof for differences before approving it.

Is there a minimum order?

No. There is no minimum order, and ordering one shirt is normal. A group doesn't need a set number of buyers before each member can order.

What colors and sizes are available?

Shirt colors are White, Black, Gray, Navy, and Red. Adult sizes run from S through 3XL. Each buyer should consult the product's sizing guidance.

How much does each individual shirt cost?

The upload-your-picture custom shirt is $24.99 for Front only or $29.99 for Front + back. Custom Cruise Shirts are $27.99 for front printing or $32.99 for Front + back. Shipping and tax are shown separately at checkout.

Is one bulk order cheaper?

Yes, a crew pack can lower the per-shirt price. The 12-shirt Business Starter Pack is $155.88 total, about $12.99 per shirt, with the same design on every shirt and front and back printing included.

What's the easiest way to start your group's shirt order?

Agree on the artwork, shirt color, print option, and group order-by date first. Then share the individual custom shirt order page and a single set of instructions, including the exact file and group name. Each buyer handles their size, checkout, and proof approval.

If you'd rather combine the order, review our crew packs and ask about group pricing and design help. Whether members are together in San Antonio or spread nationwide, the LuxPort team can help you choose the ordering approach that makes sense.
