How big are DTF gang sheets?

October 22, 2026Pablo

DTF gang sheets come in a fixed width and a length you choose. Most shops print on 22-inch or 12-inch-wide film. At LuxPort Print Co, gang sheets are 12 inches wide and run from 12 inches long up to 240 inches long, so you can fit a handful of logos or a full team order on one sheet.

What does gang sheet size actually mean?

A gang sheet is one long piece of DTF film with many designs printed on it side by side. Its size has two parts:

  • Width is set by the printer and the film roll. Common widths are 12 inches and 22 inches.
  • Length is the part you pick. You buy the length you need, and every design you can fit inside that rectangle prints together.

So when someone asks how big a gang sheet is, the honest answer is "as long as you need, within the shop's size options." The width stays the same.

What sizes does LuxPort offer?

Our 12-inch-wide gang sheet builder comes in these lengths:

  • 12" × 12"

  • 12" × 60"
  • 12" × 72"
  • 12" × 96"

  • 12" × 180"
  • 12" × 240"

Is a 12-inch-wide sheet big enough for a full-front shirt design?

Yes, for most adult shirts. A typical full-front design on an adult tee is roughly 10 to 12 inches wide, so it fits across a 12-inch sheet. Large back prints usually fit too. If you want an oversized print wider than 12 inches, a 12-inch sheet is not the right choice, and you should plan the design to the sheet width before you upload.

For common placement sizes, see our shirt design size guide.

How many designs fit on a gang sheet?

It depends on the size of each design and how tightly you arrange them. A few rules of thumb:

  • Left-chest logos (around 3.5 to 4 inches wide) fit two or three across a 12-inch sheet, so a long sheet holds a lot of them.
  • Full-front designs (10 to 12 inches wide) take the full width, so plan roughly one design per row, with each row about as tall as the design.
  • Mixed orders work well. Put big designs first and fill the gaps with small ones like sleeve prints, names, or pocket logos.

Leave about 1/4 inch between designs so each one is easy to cut apart.

How do I choose the right gang sheet length?

  1. List every design and its final print size. Measure in inches, at the size you want on the shirt.
  2. Count how many of each you need. Include a spare or two if you are pressing for the first time.
  3. Lay them out in a 12-inch-wide canvas. Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, or any design tool works. Stack rows until everything fits.
  4. Measure the total height. Round up to the next sheet length.

If your layout lands just over a size, try rotating small designs or nesting them into empty corners before you jump to the next length.

What file should I send for a gang sheet?

A transparent-background PNG at 300 DPI, sized at the final print size, gives the cleanest result. PDF, SVG, AI, EPS, JPG, and JPEG are also accepted, but JPG and JPEG cannot hold transparency, so any background in those files prints. You can upload a finished 12-inch-wide layout, or upload your designs and list sizes and quantities in the layout notes. Check spelling and dimensions before you upload, because we print what you send.

Is a bigger gang sheet always better?

Not always. A longer sheet usually lowers the cost per design, but only if you fill it. Empty film is space you paid for. If you only need a few transfers today, a shorter sheet is the smarter buy. If you press shirts often, a longer sheet with your regular logos and a few extras can make sense.
