I Uploaded My Picture for a Custom Shirt in San Antonio — What Happens Next?

October 17, 2026LuxPort Print Co

After you upload your picture and check out, a real person on the LuxPort Print Co team reviews your file, confirms names, colors, placement, and wording with you, and prepares a proof for your approval before anything prints. Nothing goes to the printer until you say it looks right. You don't need design skills to order a custom photo shirt in San Antonio.

What happens right after I upload my picture and place my order?

Once you check out, you'll receive an order confirmation email, and your uploaded picture is attached to your order. Keep that email because it connects your purchase, artwork, and any questions or changes you may want to discuss with the LuxPort team.

Your order has been placed, but your picture has not been sent straight to the printer. We first review the artwork and the choices you made, including shirt color, size, and whether you ordered a front print or printing on both sides. The confirmation is a useful reference when we discuss those details with you.

If you're still getting started, use our Upload Your Picture Custom T-Shirt page to select your options. For different sizes or colors, add each size-and-color combination as its own line item so your order shows the selections clearly.

Who looks at my picture, and what are they checking?

A real person on the LuxPort team reviews the image before production. We're checking whether the picture and its layout make sense for a shirt, not just whether a file successfully uploaded.

Picture size, sharpness, and cropping

We look at how much detail the file contains and whether important parts of the photo might be cropped. A picture that looks crisp on a phone screen may show softness when enlarged on fabric. Faces, pets, lettering, and the edges of a design deserve attention.

Shirt color, edges, and print placement

Dark edges and backgrounds can be especially noticeable when artwork sits on a dark shirt. Tiny text may be difficult to read once a design is sized for a chest print. We'll review those details along with front-versus-back placement, so the artwork is being prepared for the spot you chose.

For a closer look at artwork preparation, see what file formats and resolutions are needed for DTF printing. The goal of this review is straightforward: identify questions before anyone presses a shirt.

What if my picture is blurry, small, or has a busy background?

If your photo may not print clearly, we'll tell you before printing and discuss practical options. You may be able to send a better original, choose a cleaner crop, remove a distracting background, or simplify part of the artwork.

Start by finding the biggest original file you have. A picture straight from your camera or the original saved file is usually a better starting point than a screenshot of the picture on your screen. Texting a photo to yourself or passing it through a messaging app can also shrink or compress it, so send the original when you can.

If a name or date is hard to read in the image, tell us exactly what it should say. We don't want to guess from a blurry file when the wording matters to the person receiving the shirt. The same goes for a face cropped too closely or a background you would rather not keep.

Background removal and simpler layouts can help in the right situation, but they cannot automatically restore detail that isn't in the source image. We would rather have that conversation during review than leave you wondering about it after printing.

What does the proof show, and how do I approve it?

Your proof shows a mockup of the design on your selected shirt color, including its intended placement. You review it and reply to approve it or request changes; the shirt moves to printing only after your approval.

What should I check before replying?

Look beyond whether you like the picture. Use the proof to confirm these details:

  • Names, dates, and spelling: Check every letter and number, including small captions.
  • Shirt color: Make sure the mockup shows the color you selected.
  • Design size and position: Check how large the picture appears and where it sits.
  • Cropping: Look for faces, paws, wording, or other details near the edges.
  • Front and back: If you ordered printing on both sides, make sure the designs aren't swapped.
  • Overall appearance: Ask whether this is the version you want us to print.

If everything looks right, reply with your approval. If something looks off, reply with the specific correction before approving. A proof comes with your order so you can check the details; it isn't a step to skip because the uploaded image looked good on your screen.

Approval tells our team that the design shown is the version to print. Take a moment with it, particularly for shirts featuring a loved one's name, a meaningful date, or a favorite photograph.

Can I change my picture or add a back design after I upload?

Yes, you can request a different picture or an added back design before you approve your proof. Reply to your order confirmation email or contact the LuxPort team with the change you want, rather than approving a version you know isn't right.

If you're replacing a file, send the original version of the new picture whenever possible. Explain whether the change affects the front, back, text, or chosen shirt color so we can review the correct layout.

A front-only custom shirt is $24.99. Adding a back print is $5 per shirt, making a front-and-back shirt $29.99. Shipping and tax are shown separately at checkout. After you approve your proof, production can begin, so additional changes may no longer be possible.

What happens after I approve my proof?

After you approve the proof, LuxPort prints your design in-house in San Antonio using DTF, or direct-to-film, printing. We prepare the full-color image, press the transfer onto your selected shirt, inspect the finished garment, and move the order into shipping or an arranged local delivery process.

DTF is useful for photo shirts because it can reproduce full-color artwork, including the tones and detail found in many photographs. The original picture still matters, which is why file review and proof approval come before printing. Learn more in our guide to DTF photos, gradients, and detailed artwork.

When a shipped order is processed, tracking information is provided by email. Keep your order confirmation available to match that tracking message with your purchase. The process is review, proof, approval, then print, not printing the moment a file is uploaded.

Is my photo shirt actually printed in San Antonio?

Yes. LuxPort Print Co prints custom shirts in-house in San Antonio, in the Potranco Road area, and ships orders nationwide. You can start the process online whether you're nearby or ordering from elsewhere in the country.

One shirt is a normal order here; there is no minimum order. A single picture of your dog, a family vacation photo, or a shirt for one person's celebration goes through the same review-and-approval steps. You don't need to gather a group before ordering something personal.

For multiple shirts, choose each size and color separately in your cart. Contact the team about group pricing for larger orders. Local delivery can be discussed with the team as appropriate; our Potranco Road location isn't a walk-in retail counter.

The upload-your-picture custom shirt is the starting point for a finished shirt made from your image. If you'd prefer to arrange the layout yourself, explore our Design Your Own Custom T-Shirt option instead.

What if I only want the print to press onto my own shirt?

If you have your own heat press and only need the printed artwork, choose our single custom DTF transfer instead of ordering a finished shirt. That option is for people who want to handle the pressing themselves.

A transfer is different from a custom shirt: you're ordering the print rather than a garment with the image already pressed on it. If you don't have your own heat press, a finished custom shirt is the simpler path. Starting with clear, properly sized artwork helps either process.

Frequently asked questions about uploading a photo for a custom shirt

Here are quick answers to common questions before and after checkout.

Do I need design skills?

No. You can start with a picture and explain what you want on the shirt. If you're still deciding how to present an image, read how shirt shops work with an idea, sketch, or photo.

What file types can I upload?

Use a PNG, JPG, or PDF file up to 25MB each. Whenever possible, choose the largest, clearest original instead of a screenshot or compressed copy.

What if I don't see an upload button?

If the storefront doesn't show a file-upload control, contact us with your artwork before ordering. Don't place an order assuming a missing upload will automatically be found later.

Can I order just one shirt?

Yes. There's no minimum order, so a single shirt is completely normal. For a larger group, contact the team about group pricing and list each size-and-color combination separately.

How much is it, and which shirt colors and sizes can I choose?

A front-only shirt is $24.99, and a shirt with front-and-back printing is $29.99. Choose White, Black, Gray, Navy, or Red in adult sizes S–3XL; shipping and tax are shown separately at checkout.

Can I put a photo of a person or pet on a shirt?

Yes. Photos of people and pets are common choices. Use a photo you took or have permission to use, and send the biggest original file you can find. Artwork belonging to brands, teams, performers, or other rights holders also requires permission.
